Do you believe the police department is understaffed? If so, what plans do you have to fund more police positions? If not, what can the city do to better address recent increases in property crime?

Public safety is top priority.  We must ensure that we have enough police officers and provide the resources necessary to keep our community safe and secure.

I propose we aggressively pursue federal and state grants to fund additional police officers; reinstitute a cadet program to train future officers and combat property crime.

We must also find economies through shared programs with neighboring communities for services such as dispatch and large purchases like specialized fire equipment.  The budget must be reviewed to see where we can minimize spending in order to support our officers in every way possible.
